Whew, it's finally Friday. Today was really fun because the kids brought in recipes and made different snacks. Seth brought in hamantashen (these Jewish cookies eaten during Purim), and they were delicious. They were so easy to make, and I'm going to make them once I can get my hands on some jam and pie crust. Andrew made peanut butter and jelly, Trevor had crackers with Irish cheddar (quite a distinctive taste, but really good), and Nicholas had baked macaroni. All in all, the food was great.
After dinner I went to Fat Harry's with Graham and Andrew W. It turned out that it was a bar, but the food was good. We headed to the French Quarter and Frenchmen to Snug Harbor. Actually once we got off the streetcar, at the entrance to Bourbon, a really awesome brass band was playing. We enjoyed the music for a bit and watched people dance. It was a really cool corner with loud hip hop/jazz. At Snug Harbor Jason Marsalis was playing, but the place was packed, so we decided to leave and explore other places. Unfortunately nothing else was good, so we made a stop at Cafe du Monde for beignets, which were delicious as usual. After waiting for the streetcar for an hour, we decided to walk down and eventually took a cab back.
