Audubon Zoo and Monday Tradition

On Sunday we went over to the zoo in Audubon park. Unfortunately it was really hot, and we zipped through most of the zoo so we could hide out in the cafe. We saw the coolest porcupines, though, and more white alligators! We also got sno-balls, which were really good in the heat.

For dinner, Meghan, Andrew W., and I walked down St. Charles with the intention of going to Vincent's, which is supposed to be the best Italian restaurant in New Orleans. We got caught in the tremendous downpour that is thunderstorms here. By the time we got to Vincent's and peeked in, we realized we were not in the appropriate condition, so we kept going on to La Madeleine. I had the Chicken Parisien, which was delicious! It came with a tomato basil pasta salad, which tasted really good, too, with green onions. The vinaigrette was tangy and salty. The sandwich was meaty with creamy mayo.

Today we made red beans and rice, but we used only one pot, so the beans weren't seasoned well.

We had the most epic journey to go to the grocery store tonight. So Andrew W. still has the keys to the Ford Taurus at work, and we decided to go over to Tulane at around 8 PM to go get the car. Turns out his boss is at work, and Andrew slips in under the pretense that he forgot his cell phone at work. Good thing he left his cell phone with us when we were hiding out across the street because his boss called it. Amy had to pretend that Andrew had left the phone back at Loyola in the kitchen. Eventually Andrew asked if he could borrow the car for groceries and we made it out to Winn Dixie.
